Coming Soon: CYHRNet Legacy Resources
In 2010, CYHRNet worked to create a number of legacy resources from projects and initiatives it has supported over the years. The results were phenomenal; many resources, including research reports, workshop videos and online training modules, have been produced and are now in the process of being made available online.
Keep an eye on CYHRNet News for announcements of resource availability. In the mean time, learn more about some of the CYHRNet Legacy Resources coming soon below.

Building on Dr. David Brown's popular PPM presentation at CYHRNet's November 2009 AGM, the network was pleased to offer this March 12, 2010 PPM workshop at the University of Victoria.
In this workshop, aimed at health researchers and clinicians engaged in community-based collaborative projects, Dr. Brown and his colleague Suzanne Galoucher from the University of Wisconsin-Madison introduced PPM techniques, provided illustrations of its applications and engaged participants in discussion about the use of innovative methods in collaborative community-based research.

Self-injury is a serious clinical health problem that can be difficult to understand. In this March 19 workshop in Vancouver , led by self-injury experts Dr. Mary Kay Nixon and Dr. Harjit Aulakh, mental health clinicians learned about the experience and motivation of youth who self-injure, the latest related research, and practical strategies for working with these youth.
Dr. Nixon is team leader of the Interdisciplinary National Self-Injury in Youth Network Canada (INSYNC). INSYNC, a network of researchers, students and clinicians working toward a better understanding of adolescent self-injury, was established by a CYHRNet seed grant in 2005. CYHRNet's funding also supported the publication of the Dr. Nixon's book Self-Injury in Youth: The Essential Guide to Assessment and Intervention -- called an "indispensable reference" in an APA review.

Research shows that frequently bullied children struggle not only with poor peer relationships but also with getting help to end the victimization. In this March 26 workshop at the University of Victoria, CYHRNet Co-Leader Dr. Bonnie Leadbeater discussed recent research on the nature of elementary school bullying and used interactive sessions to demonstrate how the WITS programs work to prevent victimization.
This workshop builds on CYHRNet's Priority Initiative on mental health and well-being. CYHRNet has also provided a great deal of in-kind support to the WITS programs over the years, including website support and the production of informational brochures.
