The Fountain of Youth: The Secret to Building Sustainable Health Care

Presentation by Youth Theatre Action Group

The Youth Theatre Action Group, led by artistic and project director Valerie Methot and supported by Mark Rayter, Director of Child and Youth Mental Health Services in Vancouver, engages youth with professional theatre artists to develop their knowledge and skills in theatre creation and production. With the mentorship of professional artists, youth participants create a script about ideas and life issues which are important to them and see it through a process of development and production, culminating in performances for public audiences.
At CYHRNet's 4th Annual Conference and AGM, group members Zach Wolfman, above, and Emma Good, right, presented excerpts from their play Tic Talk.

Inspired by the youth's life experiences, the play explores different forms of anxiety relating to issues of insecurity, bullying, gang involvements, computer game addiction and substance abuse.
The group also helped conference participants locate their inner child as Youth Theatre Action Group's Youth Support Worker Ken Lawson led those gathered in some improv. Below, CYHRNet members strike a yoga pose.
