Introduction to Health Economics: A One-Day Workshop

September 19, 2008. Victoria - University of Victoria

Hosted by CYHRNet, this workshop strengthened the link between researchers and end-users of research as it taught both groups complementary skills. Researchers learned how to better address economics in tandem with important clinical issues in their work. Similarly, decision-makers learned how to critically appraise economic evaluations of new interventions. Through the sharing of case studies in child and youth health, both parties were able to gain a new appreciation of the ways through which health economics can impact and direct how research is conducted and applied.

The workshop was very well-received. Comments from participants included:

  • Well done. Absolutely better than expectations
  • A lot of good information – mixed with obvious caring and compassion. Many good ideas/suggestions
