20th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion: Health, Equity and Sustainable Development

This conference aims to build bridges between the fields of health promotion and sustainable development, providing opportunities to present and discuss state-of-the-art knowledge and cross-cutting issues in health promotion and sustainable development, showcase and challenge best practice in health promotion, with focus on sustainability, and initiate strong alliances and partnerships for promoting sound policies and practices that positively impact the health of people, societies and the planet.

XVIII ISPCAN International Congress: One World, One Family, Many Cultures

Sept. 26-29, 2010. Honolulu, HI, USA.

The International Society for the the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (IPSCAN) presents this congress focused on strengthening children and families affected by personal, intra-familial and global conflict. Congress themes include: cultural perspectives in strengthening families and protecting children, identifying, treating and preventing family and sexual violence, the impact of armed conflicts on families and children, family strengthening as a key to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and youth empowerment in the prevention of generational child abuse and neglect.

The Doors of Perception: Viewing Anthropology Through the Eyes of Children

Sept. 30 - Oct. 1, 2010. VU University, Amsterdam, the Netherlands

This conference aims to bring together anthropologists who work with children as well as researchers from other disciplines to provide a platform for intellectual discussion, exchange of ideas, networking, and to offer opportunities for collaboration. The primary goal of the conference is to examine current developments in the study of children and to develop perspectives on how research with children can contribute to anthropological epistemology and theory.
