CYHRNet Mentor Matches
In an effort to increase connections among child and youth health researchers and research trainees, CYHRNet has created the Mentor Matches program.
How it WorksStudents or research trainees looking for a mentor contact CYHRNet, provide information about themselves, including research interests, past research experience and desired research experience. The trainee's location is also usually included to help find a mentor nearby.
This information is then featured in the Mentor Matches section of the CYHRNet e-Newsletter and online here. No name is included, just information necessary to help the student or research trainee find an appropriate mentor.
Researchers interested in mentoring the trainee then contact CYHRNet and administrative staff help the two parties connect!
Since its inception, the program has seen great success. The first edition of Mentor Matches in April, 2009, saw a UBC PhD student matched with a mentor within 30 minutes of the newsletter's release! Other editions have resulted in the facilitation of several more mentor-mentee connections.
Future MenteesBelow is a list of current students and research trainees seeking mentorship. If you feel you would be an appropriate match for these future researchers, please email us to facilitate the connection.
