New Research to Practice Network article examines First Nations over-representation in child welfare

CYHRNet Seed Grant Recipient Dr. Grant Charles has co-authored an article for the Research to Practice Network on Aboriginal over-representation in child welfare services. The paper looks at structural issues underlying family dysfunction in First Nation communities, inappropriate responses by traditional child welfare approaches and ideas to address the issues.

The WITS anti-bullying program, developed by CYHRNet Co-Leader Dr. Bonnie Leadbeater, has demonstrated its value in reducing peer victimization and bullying in Greater Victoria schools. Now, with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada, the program will be extended to rural and remote BC elementary schools.
